They are devoted to Trump

They will not accept that Trump lost the election.

Anyone who watched television on the day of the Capitol insurrection of January 6, 2021, may remember seeing Mo Brooks speaking on behalf of Donald Trump. He was wearing a bright yellow jacket and red cap at the rally. He has been one of Trump’s staunchest supporters in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Republican Congressman from Alabama attended a Donald Trump rally in Alabama recently where he suggested that the GOP move on from Trump’s 2020 loss and focus on future elections. The pro-Trump mob became hostile and booed Brooks.

Zachary Petrizzo had this report in Salon:

Brooks was in the process of introducing Trump himself — who may or may not be planning to run again in 2024, and claims it’s “illegal” for him to make that clear (it’s not) — when the congressman suddenly wandered into dangerous terrain.

“Now, our choices are very simple,” Brooks said from the stage. “There are some people who are despondent about the voter fraud and election theft in 2020. Folks, put that behind you. Put that behind you!”

Those words did not sit well with the Trump crowd.

The Trump supporters who are still in Congress seem to be afraid of losing the support of Trump. Brooks later made a tweet showing that he still follows Trump.

Here is what Wikipedia says about Brooks:

Morris Jackson “Mo” Brooks Jr. (born April 29, 1954) is an American attorney and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Alabama’s 5th congressional district since 2011. A member of the Republican Party, his district is based in Huntsville and stretches across the northern fifth of the state. Brooks is a member of the Freedom Caucus. On January 6, 2021, Brooks was one of 147 Republican lawmakers to vote to overturn results in the 2020 presidential election. On March 22, 2021, Brooks announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Richard Shelby in 2022. [Wikipedia]

The control that Trump continues to have over his followers is truly amazing. They are so devoted to him that they will boo and harass anyone who dares to speak against Trump. Many are supporting Trump over their own church and religious leaders when it comes to vaccinations and the wearing of masks.

Utah’s U.S. Senator, Mitt Romney, received similar treatment from his fellow Republicans who most likely voted for him. He was booed at the Utah Republican Convention in May of this year because he had dared to support the impeachment of Trump. He has been harassed at the airport in Salt Lake City. The Trump fans are trying to make his life miserable.

Trump fans have been especially harsh in their treatment of people like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, two other Republican members of Congress.

It is no secret that the GOP leaders and citizen followers of Trump are against any Republican who opposed Trump in any way or blamed him for the Capitol insurrection.
