Google accidentally reveals Pixel Fold Ahead of I/O 2023 in new unlisted ad
Ahead of its official announcement at the Google I/O 2023, Google surprised the public with a teaser for its Pixel Fold device, revealing its first official look in an unlisted ad.
The company dropped an NBA-themed advertisement featuring the Pixel Fold, titled “The Greatest Watch Party: Google Pixel x NBA,” which was accidentally tweeted by Google Pixel US. Although the ad was set to go live after the event, it was unlisted instead of private, making it accessible to anyone with the link.
The 2-minute and 37-second advertisement showcases NBA stars using the Pixel Fold for video calls and seamlessly switching between the front cover display and the inner folding screen. Additionally, the ad demonstrates the device’s versatility, such as being placed on a desk and opened at a 90-degree angle for taking selfies. The video reveals the device’s hinge in action from different angles, indicating that it could be a solid competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Furthermore, the ad also features the Pixel 7a in an orange shade around the 1:51 minute mark, and unlike the Pixel Fold, most information about the upcoming mid-ranger has already leaked online.
From the video, it seems that the Pixel Fold may offer an experience similar to the Pixel 7 series in a foldable form factor. Google also appears to have optimized the operating system for seamless task-switching between the internal and external screens.
The official unveiling of the Pixel Fold is scheduled in a few hours at I/O 2023. Therefore, those interested can watch the event live to learn more about Google’s first foldable device.
