Goodbye, Dear Space
a poem

Sunlight streaming through well-designed windows, right through a beautiful glass door, scattering the light into beautiful patterns just above my bed.
An electric baseboard heater right below the towel hanger in the bathroom, such that the towel is always warm in winter months, right out of the shower.
Platformed rooms, bathroom, and laundry room that separates that main living area, they key reason I was able to sleep soundly through the flooding of 2021, as the moist pit, once overwhelmed, no longer pumped water out, but began pumping water in.
Laundry facilities right on site, its own room a new storage for old boxes that I keep “just in case”.
A ledge above the smallest of kitchenettes, to allow me to openly display all of my herbs and spices, vinegars and oils.
I will miss you for the privacy and tranquility you brought into my life.
Thank you, for having housed me, protected me from the elements.
May you be loved by another, gently and caringly.
#WritingPrompt: Write about a space, whether a bedroom or a house, an office space, or any other liminal environment you have come to miss.
