Goodbye 2022 and Looking Forward to Good Fortune in 2023
Wrapping Up the Year with Good Cheer

“In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.” ~Buddha
Hi fellow readers and writers; I hope the end of 2022 is bright and merry for you and yours. As my year comes to an end, I have been reflecting particularly on my finances. It is interesting to weigh the tough times against all that is going well.
Everything can change in the blink of an eye, but it seems to feel more painful during the holidays. My ex-husband decided to serve me by the sheriff recently to terminate the alimony he owes me for the next four years. After staying home with our children for twenty-one years of marriage, I am entitled to seven years of moderate alimony. The purpose is for me to get my feet on the ground, and start supporting myself. Earning a living is not easy without a college degree, but I am making great strides.
Side note: apparently ladies, if your boyfriend stays with you an extended period of time alimony can be terminated on grounds of cohabitation. This is the law in Ohio anyway. I was blind-sighted, fortunately my lawyer has helped me understand and we have a strong case in our favor as it was short term, he never moved personal items or furniture in, and we never combined finances. I continued to pay my bills the way I always had.
This article is not meant as a statement of complaint or being in a victim mindset — just the opposite. I am super proud of the attitude I have maintained through significant hurdles. I see my ex terminating alimony as seeking revenge for my happiness. I refuse to sink to his level. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, and I feel my inner spirit growing.
“The best revenge is massive success.” ~ Frank Sinatra
Frank Sinatra was legendary and very wise. That is precisely what I intend to do for the remainder of 2022 and 2023. I plan to hold my head high, live with kindness and compassion, and believe in my ability to support myself. I am on my way to being an accomplished author and living the life I have always dreamed of. My mom always said, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” I no longer want his money as it feels like it is coming from the devil. I will hustle as needed to keep my head above water. No one said it would be easy, but I have a newfound appreciation for everything I possess.
New Ventures To Prevent Anxiety Overwhelm
I am still coaching clients, which I am very proud of and I receive deep gratification from watching the transformations from struggles to success. But rather than get overwhelmed on days when I am not earning the maximum amount from clients, I recently started writing on NewsBreak, a free platform, in addition to my contributions here on Medium. If any of you want to make a little extra spending money, I highly recommend you apply to be a contributor there. Click this referral link and I will get a little bonus if you are approved (I would greatly appreciate it). It is not a fast process from my experience. It took at least three weeks for them to approve me for monetization, but I think it is well worth it. They have a great reader and writer referral program as an incentive and offer a $200 bonus for every fifty articles you publish.
Finally, if you struggle financially, do not let your ego get in the way of your success. There are opportunities out there to earn good money. I recently started driving Uber Eats part-time to be sure I can afford the holidays. I enjoy delivering food to people. Sometimes we have to hustle.
Conclusion
Tis the season to believe. Believe in the magic within you as well as the tiny miracles all around you. Believe that you are worthy of all that you desire. Finally, believe in your vision and in all the blood sweat and tears it takes to get there.
Ok, I will leave you with one thought. I encourage you to start setting your intentions for the new year. I am publishing my second book shortly. I intend to continue eating healthfully, branching out with my writing, and living my best life.
You can purchase my first book, an inspiring collaboration with twenty-one authors from Medium through Dancing Elephants Press. The title is Holistic Journey to Wellness and is available in print and digital formats around the globe. It is sure to be a favorite you return to often and would make a thoughtful gift. Working on this collaboration was such an inspiring honor. Thank you Dr. Gabriella Korosi and the wonderful editors who made the book become a reality.
Food for thought…
