Good Vibes Club — Joy Challenge
Good Vibes on Joy
A feel good challenge from the Good Vibes Club
Trisha Faye started a new publication this year. It’s called Good Vibes Club. In her publication, she has presented her first Medium Challenge: three questions about joy. Joy can be a word so simple and complex — often simultaneously. I’ve taught workshops on the intersection of gratitude and generosity leading to joy; it has been transformative for some people to recognize that concept! Read on to see my mid-January responses to her three questions — as I share what joy is to me at the beginning of 2023.
And then — if you’d like — please answer the questions yourself. As Trisha said, she doesn’t care if you publish it independently, submit it through Good Vibes Club, or any other publication. We are simply trying to spread some joy and thoughts about joy within our Medium community; and we love to read what others are thinking too. Tag me. Tag Trisha. Tag Good Vibes Club. Or don’t tag — that’s fine too. As we build community among readers and writers, I know I’m curious to know and hear from you.

Trisha’s Question #1: What’s a small joy that fills your soul with delight?
Being and walking in nature is a simple joy that delights me each day. As I soak up the sun’s rays, listen to nature’s calling sounds, feel the breeze, and literally stop to smell the flowers, I take all of this with me on my day’s journey. And when the weather is gloomy, stormy, or cold, and I don’t make it outdoors, I can fall back on the heart-etched images of yesterday or last week — always able to go deep within the recesses of my memory to grab a little bit of that pot-of-gold.

Trisha’s Question 2: What’s a large joy that swells your heart with love?
Noticing the relationships of my sons, now adults, not just as brothers but as friends, brings me abundant joy. Watching them with their significant others, with the respect, honor and ways they demonstrate their love fortifies me and affirms the foundation and example my husband and I strived to set for them years ago. My heart is so filled with the joy of family.

Trisha’s Question #3: What’s one way you can spread joy with others?
Embracing the state of joyful living is something I love to spread, through a smile, a compliment, a helping hand, an expression of gratitude. I cannot imagine living a life with anger, resentment or regret. Life is so short — it’s not worth all that negativity. The way to be joyful in a generative way is to intuitively give it away.
Generosity and gratitude are two words that I cherish. Their intersection, like the sliver of overlap in a Venn diagram, is JOY.
Seek it.
Notice it.
Embrace it.
Spread it.
With gratitude to people like Trisha Faye Pamela Oglesby, Lu Skerdoo, Diana Pippin, Mary Ingram and others who have been spreading joy through the new @Good Vibes Club publication, I invite YOU to share your responses in a thoughtful way.
I’m tagging some people who may enjoy this publication and this particular writing challenge; in other words, I’d love to read your three responses!
