You as a leader have the obligation to set your company culture. One thing is inevitable though. Not everybody is going to like what you do. Your job is to come up with the best decision. You may or may not offend others. It is good to come up with a decision that will make you popular. But that is not always the case. Your decision may face strong objection.

You need to make sure that the measures you take are perfectly understood and well communicated throughout the company. The results and successes you are able to achieve will earn you respect. You don’t need to aggressively enforce anything on your people. Rather you should encourage openness and discussion at all levels. You should let know everyone that their voices matter.

Good leaders are also very good listeners. They are able to look at things from every direction and come up with an excellent decision. Because they have everyone’s support, they are good with people. They also take time for themselves to make sense of the decisions they made and how the future should look like. Because of their leadership skill, excellent decisions come naturally to them and they trust their gut feeling.
