Going Ketogenic Is A Hack To Getting Super Productive In Life
Yesterday night, I read a junior doctor’s tweet about feeling drained out after work and being unable to manage her social life.
The tweet took me back to a year ago when I was in the same state.
I had no energy after work, I felt low and had no time for things outside work.
In March 2023, I discovered a hack.
No secrets — It is, going Ketogenic.
These are the reasons why going ketogenic has increased my productivity.
1. Increased Energy
My usual workday on a high-carbohydrate diet consisted of post-food energy highs and 2-hour-post-meal energy lows, ultimately leading to a crash at the end of the day.
I had no energy to go to the gym and do any creative work post my working hours.
This has changed.
Post ketosis, I have no highs and lows in energy.
I am successfully off this energy rollercoaster.
My body runs at a constant energy level throughout the day.
Contrary to feeling drained out post-work, work days get me better into ketosis.
It feels like tapping into a previously undiscovered crazy efficient source of energy i.e. my own body fat.

2. Less Time Spent Preparing Meals
I am largely on a steak, eggs and butter diet (with veggies at times for hormesis).
It sounds crazy but the medical evidence is fairly convincing that this is healthy (af).
My meals take less than 15 minutes to cook.
This gives me more time to do things that I love.
Who wants to cut veggies every day and wash dishes for fun?
3. Less Time Wasted Deciding On Meal Options
Pre-keto, I had to decide what to eat every day.
Honestly, this wasted a lot of time.
I strolled around in grocery stores and scrolled through food delivery apps for hours.
Now, its always something from this list:
- Meat
- Organic eggs
- Olive / Avocado/ Coconut Oil
- Grass-fed Butter & Ghee
- Coffee
- Spinach/ Avocado/ Brussel Sprouts/ Green Beans and more
Things are super easy now!
4. Less Appetite
I usually eat one meal a day these days.
It is not because I am counting calories.
Hell No!
It’s because protein and fat are quite satiating.
I eat till I feel full and then I don’t.
Also, going ketogenic somehow alters your brain chemistry and there are no cravings when one is on the ketogenic diet. (Evidence)
5. Weight Loss & Decreased Inflammation
I have lost 48 pounds (22 kg) of body weight in the last 140 days.
My acne, plantar fasciitis and lower back pain are gone.
I feel lighter, have higher cardiovascular endurance and have been lifting the heaviest in the gym.
6. Better Mood
I feel more alert and happy on the Ketogenic diet.
I have actively tested this just to make sure that this isn’t the placebo effect.
Whenever I go back to eating higher carbs (within the Ketogenic range), I feel low, tired and less alert. (Evidence)
The Ketogenic diet is an unfair hack that I’ve discovered.
Give it a try?
