Going Beyond Words
Going beyond expressing
Hierarchy and writing should never be in the same room together. They should never be at the same party.
The very second that writing whores itself out to hierarchy it loses its authenticity.
Someone said that once. I don’t remember who it was.
When we write something and submit it to a popular publication we are trying to push our writing up the ladder of hierarchy.
There is nothing wrong with that. Nothing at all.
When we spend many hours writing something and only three people read it…
There is nothing wrong with that either.
It only takes one reader! Only one!
But that’s a lie. You don’t need any readers at all!
The only thing that matters is that you wrote; that you put what is in your heart out there. Seriously, that is all that matters.
To expel and expunge and release is what writing is all about. It’s about clearing the pathway for new thoughts, new ideas, new feelings.
Our fingers on the keyboard of our laptops are like a toilet. We release that which has been digested and built up. We clear the pathway for new thoughts and ideas and we do that by excreting old thoughts and ideas.
If we keep pooping out the same old crap then it becomes obvious that we need to change our diet.
But is that enough? Is what we take in from around us really going to change what we poop out? It probably will to some extent.
But what if we change our mental digestive system? What if we instead switch to a system of expressing what is in our hearts instead of what is in our noggin digestive system? What if we stop translating what comes through us in favor of what is already within us? What if we clear that out instead?
What will replace it? What will continue to feed us? Where will the words come from when we receive no input from our feedbag of societal perspectives? What will happen when our noggin is no longer supplying us with an onslaught of words? Can our heart come up with the words to continue the flow?
Can we write from our heart instead of our noggin?
And can we go even beyond that?
Can we be silent?
Can we express our mojo without uttering or writing a single word?
Can we change the world without ever opening our mouths?
Can we be that which we want to express?
Can we go beyond words?
Can we go beyond thoughts?
Can we change the world by simply being?
