God Blessed the Day Twice

A poem of spirituality

Once she told me, sparkling eyes, and the slightest corner of her mouth a crescent: Dad always used to say, when the moon and the sun are in the sky at the same time, God blessed the day twice.

Radiating nostalgia permeated through her, a beautiful beaming energy. She sat next to me, gazing up toward the sky to learn that today God blessed the day twice.

Her whisper once said like a gossamer thread, now I sit alone and say aloud: my Mom used to say her Dad always said, when the moon and the sun are in the sky at the same time, God blessed the day twice.

I gaze up, mind wandering, sparkling eyes, and the slightest corner of my mouth, a crescent: God blessed the day twice.
