God (A Poetry)

Photo by Marc-Olivier Jodoin on Unsplash

After billions of years

And millions of beliefs

Still the question stands

Who is God and where do we find them?

Some say it is the belief, others have a portrait

And a scripture. Some say it's in the heart

Some walk miles to bow before a lustrous sculpture.

They say God resides in it, none ever saw one

But that circle back to belief again.

God as we see, is the one with every answer

The one warrior who protects us all

The one hand that guides us all.

But humans are misguided,

Not all get the answers they need

Not all are saved by the grace we call God.

Then what is God?

Is it the hope or fear that precedes

Future uncertainties?

Or is it the night after storm,

We waited for so long?

Is God where the peasant lay

Cold under the bridge?

Or beside the politician's throne

Fanning their greed?

Does God lay on the hands of a healer

Who sew the wounds of ailing?

Or under tie of the corporate that

stare down at land that once was green and alive?

God can be love and can be shade for loathe

Like sun at eve

May see the ball of light disappear to other side

Or watch billions more glow in the magnificent dark sky.

I'd say God is a story, at times, of birds and trees

Sometimes a song, of freedom and revolution

Many a time, God is that phases at the end

Of the diary you held so close.

But there're always a tale we repeat

In various ways along our lifetime.

We wish God to be a soldier

But they are an art, unique for all

As we, the artist build them as it fits our soul.
