Goal: Drink A Lot Of Water

Be The Healthiest I’ve Ever Been.

Many years ago I heard it is a good idea to drink half my weight in ounces of water every day. I am a big person and I didn’t know if I could accomplish this task. I tried it and I liked it, for about the first three days. Then I got really cold, from the inside out. Getting warm became impossible while still drinking that much water because of my size. I backed off on the amount until I could stay warm. So now I know I can do it for at least three days in a row.

I feel better when I drink a lot of water. It feels good emotionally because I know I am flushing the toxins out of my body. Flushing the toxicity from my internal organs gives me peace of mind. Knowing I am doing something good for myself is motivating. I also feel better. Moving is easier. I have more energy. And I like the way I look and feel.

After three days of measuring and keeping track of my water intake, I let my body find it’s needed amount each day. I don’t enjoy being cold all day and night. It’s important to me that I drink plenty of water and have a body that functions well. I pay attention to how my lips and mouth feel. If they are dry, I know I need more water.

I have recently started focusing on drinking water after using the bathroom. I find this a very rewarding and habit forming system and it is working really well for me. It’s easy to wash my hands and go get a glass of water. Then get back to whatever I was doing before using the bathroom.

I can change the amount of water I drink based on where I am and what activities I am participating in. If I am not going to be near a bathroom, I drink less water, but I still drink some. If I am at home, I drink a lot more water.

I take my water with me wherever I go so I know I am getting quality water. We buy high quality water from a nearby company and have it delivered every other week in big five gallon bottles. It costs about one penny an ounce so we feel it is a great investment for our health.

I also started intermittent fasting again this week as part of a reductionist mindset. I tend to see better results from my water intake if I drink most of it on an empty stomach and after exercising. So, deciding to eat after 1pm each day means I can get most of my water intake completed by then. In the mornings I focus on exercising first thing, then drinking lots of water while accomplishing my morning routines and tasks and staying home. In the afternoons I focus on doing everything I need to do outside of the home and meals.

Doing what helps me stay hydrated every day to be the healthiest I’ve ever been takes effort and focus. It is worth the effort. It is worth the work it takes to stay focused.
