Summary

"Glitters of Life" is a self-love poem that encourages embracing self-worth during life's challenges.

Abstract

The poem "Glitters of Life" reflects on the human tendency to recognize the beauty and potential in life during times of hardship. It highlights the paradoxical nature of desiring positivity when faced with pain, the longing for love after hurt, and the urge to create when surrounded by darkness. The poem suggests that people often live behind a facade, struggling to align their actions with their true feelings and aspirations. However, it emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and choosing the "glitters" – the positive aspects of life that have been overlooked – and advocates for self-love and self-choice, especially in moments of doubt or crisis.

Opinions

  • The poem conveys that recognition of life's positive aspects often occurs during adversity.
  • It suggests an internal conflict where desires contrast with one's current state, such as wanting to be active when in pain or seeking love after being hurt.
  • The author implies that people tend to hide their true dreams and feelings, even from themselves.
  • The poem criticizes the tendency to live in illusion, questioning the authenticity of one's perceived virtues.
  • It encourages readers to confront their fears, particularly those reflected in their own image.
  • The poem advocates for embracing self-love and personal virtues over doubts and self-imposed limitations.
  • It concludes with a call to action, urging readers to choose positivity and self-acceptance, and to remember the overlooked "glitters" in their lives.

Glitters of Life

A self-love poem to help you get through life

Glitters of life, You only notice during rough times.

You miss the sun, In the pouring rain.

You want to workout, When you’re in pain.

You want to fall in love, When you’re hurt and above.

You want to paint the world, When you know only the black color.

You buy books you’d never read, You don’t want to stay, still, you don’t leave,

You dream every night, During the day you successfully manage to hide.

Every morning, you talk to the mirror, Yet your reflection brings you, terror.

You hate to say things you truly mean, And you love the things you dare not dream.

You live in a facade made of illusion, Then you look at your virtues with confusion!

Glitters of life that you ignored all your life, Have been hiding beneath you all this while.

Choose them over any scanty doubt, Choose yourself through every blackout!
