Give Parents An Elbump
For increasing family engagement within the home in the midst of the global pandemic
Previously unheard of behaviors have become the norm as the Coronavirus rages throughout our global village. Social distancing and self isolation are among some of the responses that parents are leading within their homes to keep their families safe. More parents than ever before are both working from home as they supervise their children who are now being home schooled to slow the spread of the virus. The
“Stay At Home Challenge”
that is gaining popularity on social media platforms is proof that parents are doing their part to respond to governmental guidelines and also maintain a sense of community that reflects their care and concern for their fellow human beings.
Fear, anxiety, selfishness, greed, and other adverse reactions have emerged within the hearts of so many people as a result of the international pandemic. Despite all of this,
pure goodness
has overshadowed the negative reactions. I find that heart warming.
There are many, many groups of people within every sector of our society who have shown love to other by doing things like sharing their personal resources, offering unique levels of encouragement, volunteering their time, continuing to work extremely hard on their various jobs, leading prayer initiatives, and frequently checking on neighbors. It is actually impossible to capture all of the acts of kindness that people everywhere have been engaged in throughout this global crisis.
My professional mission is to
Ignite Family Engagement In Education.
In my capacity of Family Engagement Influencer, there is one exclusive group of people that I must celebrate.
Thank You Parents
The spirit of resilience has resulted in many parents strengthening their relationships within their family unit during this troubling time. Because they have remained in close proximity to their children within the confines of their home and on tr private property, their parent and child relationship has grown stronger through
family engagement.
Family engagement refers to the process of actively building and maintaining healthy interactions within the family unit. Genuine parent-to-parent, parent- to-sibling, and sibling-to-sibling interactions develop through positive communications, the spirit of cooperation, and unconditional love that is shared between each member of the family.
Here are the specific reasons why I applaud the efforts of parents to enhance family engagement within their home and family unit during the global pandemic.
Education Continues To Be A Priority
Since most schools are closed throughout the United States, parents have demonstrated their commitment to the education of their children. They have ensured that learning continues in a seamless manner within the home. Many parents have displayed flexibility by developing rigorous schedules to follow so that their children participate in meaningful digital, hands on, and personally created educational activities. Parents have also adhered to all procedures for keeping their children involved in learning that have been outlined by teachers and school leaders. Whenever feasible, some parents have also collaborated with educators remotely to obtain more intensive ideas and directions for supervising the education of their children at home.
Relying On Creativity
Creativity has been demonstrated by parents as they have interacted with their children. Whether playing together indoors or outdoors, making interesting crafts and other works or art, and assigning individual jobs while cooking or baking delicious meals and treats together along with other fun activities, parents have been extremely resourceful. Doing so has released the spirit of cooperation within the home.
Focusing On Fitness
Physical fitness has remained important to parents along with exposing their children to fresh air and sunshine as much as possible. Taking walks, riding bike, skateboards, and skates, and participating in private outdoor family excursions are examples of the exercises and physical activities that parents engage in with their children.
Following Social Distancing Guidelines
Parents who are nonessential members of the work force have worked from home if they have had the capacity to do so. This has enabled many parents to develop and balance their flexible schedule as they fulfill their professional as well as family obligations in the comfort of their personal living space.
Parents are appreciated for the expanded and differentiated support they are extending to their families during this time of global crisis by modeling pure goodness.
What group of people do “you” celebrate for displaying pure goodness during the Coronavirus crisis? Be sure to thank them.
