Give me money, I have control

“Give me control of a nation’s money and I care not who makes its laws.” Mayer Amschel

Money, you can’t live without it, everybody needs it, and you never seem to have enough of it. At least this is how the world currently operates under the system. Money today is a commodity. The scarcer it is, the more valuable it is. The more of it that is “printed”, or created by entering the amounts onto a computer screen, the less it is worth. Well, that's inflation right there, I am not interested in writing about inflation, but I would like to talk about Money power in general.

History of Money

Let's go a bit back, the first items to be used as money were staples of the day: cattle, goats, grain, weapons, basically anything that had tangible value. This worked fine for millennia, but as humans advanced, they came up with new ways to accomplish bartering, and “money” was invented. Around 1000 B.C. the Chinese were the first to make metal coins to be used as currency, and around 700 B.C., the Lydians became the first people of the Western world to make coins made of metal to be used as a medium for exchange.

Countries throughout the known world were soon minting their own coins with specific values. The metal was used because it was readily available, easy to work with, and could be recycled into new money as it wore out. Since coins were given a certain value, it became easier to compare the cost of items people wanted, and thus facilitated trade. All the way from ancient times into the twentieth century, the majority of world currencies were based on commodity money through the use of silver and gold. Money today is given value by a government decree, accompanied by enforceable legal tender laws, by law the refusal of “legal tender” money in favor of some other form of payment is illegal. That gives money a crucial position whereby it is the only suitable way to use in selling and buying, that being said, everybody is bound to look for some money.

Money is power

“The money power preys on the nation in times of peace and conspires against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, more selfish than bureaucracy. It denounces, as public enemies, all who question its methods or throw light upon its crimes.” Abraham Lincoln. What happens when you accumulate lots of money into your possession? People around you start to change, It has the power to change a nobody to somebody, It takes you from nowhere to somewhere and enhances your confidence in how you walk, how you talk, and how you do your things, there is power in money.

Fiat money made of paper is now being replaced by computerized fiat money, so in effect, we are heading down a road where no money at all changes hands between humans, Your money is not really there, it exists only as numbers on a piece of paper, a computer screen, or in your mind. But the power of money and hunger to accumulate more money remains, growing stronger and stronger. Who can't live without money? The more you have the more power you get, having power means control.
