AI vs HI
Getting AI to Work with HI
Is it a marriage made in heaven or a pot filled with grand confusion?
I grew up reading comic books. I admit it was the superhero and fantasy comics my father introduced to me as a child that helped me grow and develop my imagination and creativity. It also needs to be mentioned that my dad was a great storyteller who told stories to children in schools as part of their creative English classes. He also told stories for children over the radio in India, and they loved him.
In 2022, I discovered AI art, and I was amazed by what I saw. It was not perfect, but it could produce spectacular results when the user just added a prompt telling the artificial intelligence in the program what he or she wanted it to create. The AI generator took a few seconds to create its art, which was sometimes far from perfect.
The websites often tell the human artist to train the program with the type of art he or she wishes to create by uploading a few samples. This allows the AI in the art generator to create a better artistic reproduction. It is also necessary to write negative prompts of what you do not want the art generator to produce, like “double heads, imperfect forms, fused fingers.” In most cases, it does work, but not always.
Anyway, I have loved AI-generated art for a few years. The first time I created a comic book with my digital artwork was during the pandemic, it took a long time for me to draw out every panel in the comic, but I did it with a digital pen and digital tablet.
Last year, I thought to myself that an AI art generator is like a magical program that can draw for me exactly what I want to see—the image that reflects my idea. I next thought that it would be marvelous to get the AI generator to create images for the stories that I write. Why not ask the AI art generator to create all the comic graphics for me based on my ideas and my original stories? It works. Last year, I created several AI artwork comics with my stories, and today I released my two new comics for 2024.
I am happy with this new level of creation that I have achieved as a writer. I can fuse AI images with my original stories as comic books for the world to enjoy. Is this a “marriage made in heaven," where AI works with my human intelligence to create literary works of art in the shape and form of comic books? You decide.
