Getting a Dose of Energy
Microfiction
I am trembling and feeling woozy. I need a dose of energy, and I need it now.
I find a few energy cartridges in the drawer, but they expired in April 3289. Too risky to consume.
I go online and make the call. The operator checks my account and says, “I can give you two shots for $589.99. When you are ready, press the red download button.”
Desperately trying to stay conscious, I connect myself to the computer and push the red button.
I get a jolt instantly, and the energy bits stream through my veins. Ah, what a relief!
