One Story is a Literary Fiction publication. They have been publishing for 20 years and have published over 200 writers in this time period. Half of the stories they have published have won literary awards after publication. You can see a list of awards here.

Fiction: One Story is looking for literary fiction between 3,000 to 8,000 words. They are not looking for a specific style as long as it is well-written. These short stories need to be stand-alone pieces that the readers leave satisfied knowing the story is complete.

They only accept stories that have never been published before. They might make an exception if the story was previously published outside of North America, in print. They will also consider translations of stories previously written in a language other than English. The payment is $500.00 per story and 25 contributors copies.
