If you’re someone who enjoys reading books and sharing your thoughts on them, then you’ll like what I am about to share with you.
There are several ways to monetize your book reviews.
You can create your own YouTube channel or website and dedicate it to share the reviews of the books you read with your audience.
Aside from the ads in your blog/YouTube channel, you can have affiliate links that link to the books you’re reviewing. Whenever someone buys that book through your affiliate links, you’ll get a commission.
But I’m not here to tell about how to do that and set a website and all the pain that goes with it.
What I want to share with you is a list of the websites where you’ll sign up, get a free book, review it and get paid. Simple & free.
1 — Kirkus Reviews
Kirkus Reviews publishes reviews both online and in a print magazine that is distributed to subscribers.
They offer a paid review service for self-published authors. For a fee, self-published authors can have their book reviewed by a Kirkus reviewer (you) which can provide valuable feedback and help to increase the book’s exposure and credibility.
Expected pay: up to $60 per review.
2 — Publishers Weekly
Publishers Weekly is a weekly magazine that provides news and insights about the publishing industry, including book reviews, author interviews, and publishing trends.
They are currently looking for freelance book reviewers for both traditionally published and self-published works.
Expected pay: $25 per review.
3 — The US Review of Books
The US Review of Books provides reviews of books across a wide range of genres, including fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books. In addition to reviews, the publication also features author interviews, articles on writing and publishing, and book-related news and events.
They are hiring freelance writers to review books.
Expected pay: between $25 and $75 per review.
4 — Online Book Club
Online Book Club provides a variety of resources and services for readers, including book reviews, author interviews, book-related forums, and a book club program.
The book review program offered by Online Book Club, which enables members to get free copies of books in return for submitting reviews, is one of its most famous features. All community members are welcome to participate in the program, and a range of genres and book formats, including e-books and audiobooks, are offered.
Expected pay: $5-$60 per review.
5 — Reedsy Discovery
Reedsy Discovery is a book discovery platform that provides authors with an opportunity to promote their books to a wider audience and get more exposure.
One unique aspect of Reedsy Discovery is its curated book selection. The platform features a team of reviewers who curate the books that are featured on the site, ensuring that readers are exposed to high-quality and engaging books.
Expected pay: $1, $3 or $5 sent by readers.
6 — Booklist
Booklist Online provides access to book reviews, booklists, and other resources for librarians, educators, and book lovers.
The website’s content is carefully curated and provides a wealth of information on a wide range of topics, making it a go-to resource for book recommendations and reviews.
Expected pay: $15 per review.
