Competition Opens Midnight 30th September

The Second Authentic Eclectic competition opens at midnight on September 30th — depending on where you find yourself on the globe, that’s either today or tomorrow.

The facts:

1. You’ll have to be an AE writer to enter — please take a look at our submission guidelines here if you’re interested.
2. Please note, if your work was previously published in another publication, I’ll ask you not to submit it. Some publications get quite upset if you move your work from one pub to another and I don’t want to ruffle any feathers.
3. We’d prefer new pieces — but by new I mean written from October 1st onwards, since that’s when the competition opened.
4. The theme of the competition is ranting. You can write a great rant, or write about a great rant. You can write about why you don’t rant, love rants, dislike them, about a rant that changed your view — or any other rant inspired story — provided you use the word rant at least once. It might be easier to copy paste the hashtag to ensure you don’t miss a letter.
5. Please ensure you use the tag #irantthereforeiam — as I am setting up a tab tomorrow which will automatically populate with the competition entries using that hashtag (or topic as they’re also known).
6. First prize is 50 American dollars — paid into your Paypal account — and a promo video.
7. Second prize is 25 American dollars.
8. There will be a panel of 3–4 judges from the AE — names to be announced later.
9. Competition opens midnight 30th September 2022 and closes midnight 16th October 2022, American Eastern Standard time.
10. Judging will be completed and a winner announced by 31st October — assuming no acts of God or other unavoidable delays.
11. Please support one another and read at least one other entry, clap and/or comment on it — if we don’t support one another, who will?
12. Stories will be judged for use of language, entertainment, originality and “wow” factor. You won’t be marked down for a typo (or two) because I am the Queen of the Tpoy. *
