Get Better at Writing Right Now
Techniques, strategies, and more that have helped countless writers reach their career goals and land top writing gigs.

How do you get better at writing? What ways do you practice your craft so that you’re a better writer than you were yesterday?
These are sometimes hard questions to answer. How can we know in what ways we need to grow if someone isn’t there showing and guiding us? That’s why I tend to write my tutorials on writing so that it’s easy for you to identify what steps you need to take. I want you to learn how to write through exercises and practice not by simply writing.
Every month, I expand on my writing tutorials offering new and in-depth ways for you to better understand and grow your writing craft. This is free writing advice geared toward all levels of writers. If you want to get better at writing, this is the best place to do it.
New Editions to The Collection
I keep all of my writing articles that I publish on Medium in one place for people to easily navigate to what they are looking for. Need help in writing pitches? There’s a link in the table of contents that will take you to all of my articles on the subject. Just getting started? There’s a section for that.
In May, I wrote more on characters using an expanded version of previously shared material and some advice from Neil Gaiman. I get into how to make each of your characters unique and distinct within your story. There’s also a new article on outlining to help those writers who are trying to organize their stories better.
There are over 5 new articles surrounding the writing craft for people to explore and incorporate into their practice! Let me teach you how to land gigs, win over editors, and become a better writer.
What’s Next?
I want to help you learn the craft techniques and secrets that will actually help you. If you have a writing topic you want me to cover, please let me know. I’ll add it to my list and begin working on something or let you know if I’m not interested.
Currently, I’m in the process of doing a rapid release of some games, books, and courses, so my focus and attention is slightly off of the site. Don’t worry, though, I have several articles and topics still planned for the month to help you continue growing.
If you want to take your growth and career further, however, consider checking out my masterclasses in selling your writing, editing a book, and writing a novel.
In June, I’ll be writing about:
- Pacing
- Writing forms
- Making money from your stories
