In the United States, as far as chains go, the most we have in terms of pretzels is Wetzels Pretzels.

They are delicious, yes.

But when I started traveling in 2018, my first layover was in Frankfurt. Tired and jetlagged, I wandered into a cafe in Frankfurt airport and saw with surprise a wide selection of pretzels. I ordered one and found it delicious — it was softer, doughier, and tastier than any pretzel I had ever had.
