Not All 75 Year Old Men Blame Their Age for Causing an Unjustified and a Brutal War

But George W. Bush did, a Freudian slip or an admission of guilt?

Oh, You have to give it to former US president George W. Bush, a man with less hubris would never talk about the war in Ukraine.

He called the war in Iraq, ‘mission accomplished.’ At least in his mind on that day when he pulled a theatrical stunt of his jet landing off the USS Abraham Lincoln, as he met with US troops.

In a viral tweet from Michael Williams, a Dallas journalist, George W. Bush made a speech that people should never forget. He blames the gaffe on his age, now that he is 75, but I say his words came out from his conscience, a historical Freudian slip.

What is a Freudian slip? A Freudian slip, also known as parapraxis, is a verbal or memory gaffe attributed to the unconscious mind. These slips are said to disclose people’s hidden thoughts and feelings.

“The result is an absence of checks and balances in Russia, and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq,” Bush said, before wincing and correcting himself. “I mean, of Ukraine.”

The comment left the audience in an awkward silence. Then, Bush shrugged and said under his breath: “Iraq, too.” — By Michael Williams

War on Ukraine

It should never have happened. The war should be condemned and Putin should be put on trial as a war criminal.

The same goes for George W. Bush for causing the war in Iraq that killed almost a quarter of a million Iraqis, and the death of more Americans who died in the 911 attacks.

He called on nations to be part of his coalition of the willing. And in countries where American aid spells the difference between a country collapsing into turmoil like the Philippines in 2003, there was no other choice but to send troops to fight in a war that was both unjustified and brutal, George W. Bush’s words not mine.

Iraq War

It was a war with no consequence for George W. Bush. Today, he is an elder statesman, well-loved by politicians across the political spectrum. A dear friend to the Obamas, and the Democrats have only good words for Bush.

There was no weapon of mass destruction found in Iraq. It was for that reason that Bush went to war, and it was all for nothing.

The Iraq War also took Colin Powell to shame. He could have made history as the first black American president.

Instead as a footnote in history, Colin Powell helped sell Bush’s Iraq war which he later called a blot on his record.

The cost of the Iraq War was a staggering $2.2 trillion enough to pay all of American student loan debt which today is valued at $1.75 trillion.

But more than American taxpayers’ money, the lives lost in the war are far more valuable than any money lost, close to a quarter of a million Iraqis, most of them are civilians, men, women, and children.

The number of United States troops who have died fighting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan had passed 7,000 at the end of 2019.

An estimated 30,177 have died by suicide as compared with the 7,057 killed in post-9/11 war operations.

Final words

Not all 75-year-old blame their age for causing an unjustified and brutal war. Only men of great power can cause thousands of people to die.

George W. Bush will never pay for his crimes, at least today, poetic justice was served.
