Summary

Geoengineering, a concept proposed by Mikhail Budyko, is being explored as a potential emergency measure to combat the current environmental crisis, with the Oxford Geoengineering Program categorizing it into Solar Radiation Management (SRM) and Greenhouse Gas Removal (GGR).

Abstract

Geoengineering, also known as earth engineering, is a field that has gained attention as a possible solution to the immediate environmental challenges faced by humanity. It was first conceptualized by Mikhail Budyko and is now being studied as a means to counteract the effects of climate change, such as increased temperatures, ozone layer depletion, industrial pollution, deforestation, and the rise in greenhouse

Geoengineering

Geoengineering (or earth engineering) is a concept (first invented by Mikhail Budyko) that might be an alternative in humanity’s back pocket to prevail in the immediate environmental crisis.

The Oxford Geoengineering Program has segregated it into Solar Radiation Management (SRM) and Greenhouse Gas Removal (GGR). (Link) Because of the radical environmental changes due to temperature increase, ozone layer destructions, industrial growth, deforestation, and increased Co2 and methane gas, scientists are researching more about this. However, it might be an excuse to extend the fossil fuel, and there might be rapid changeover shock to nature, which might backfire.

Indeed, not the best solution, but if properly researched, planned, and executed, it might buy us a few years to improve our practices to save us all.
