Genie Wishes

A poem — three wishes from you

Mystic tales untold, where magical secrets brightly hold, dwells a creature, mystical and wise, a genie bound, tied to the skies lamenting their cries.

Beneath the moon’s enchanting gleam, In bottles small and a lamp’s beam, a genie waits with powers vast, granting wishes, shadows cast.

Oh, seeker bold, with dreams in hand, approach the lamp upon the sand. Rub its surface, call the name, summon forth the genie’s flame.

“Grant me three wishes,” whispers a melodic voice. The genie stirs, a shimmering haze, embarking on your wish-filled phase.

Wish the first, a beacon bright, to guide you through the darkest night. A lantern of hope, ablaze with might, illuminating paths in the starry light.

For wishing the second, ponder deep, a treasure trove of secrets kept. Wisdom vast, like oceans wide, rolling waves in a boundless tide.

Now, a third wish, the heart’s desire, ignite the soul, set dreams on fire. A canvas blank, a future unwritten, paint your fate, a masterpiece smitten.

Yet heed the genie’s ancient lore, wishes three, and then no more. Choose with care, for power grand, can slip like grains through an open hand.

For in the echo of granted dreams, lies a tale of balance, it seems. Genie’s magic, a gift divine, a dance of wishes, a cosmic sign.

So, I dream bold, when the lamp is near, whisper wishes, banish fear. In tides of magic, where dreams are spun, genies dance beneath the moon and sun.

This poem was inspired after watching the movie Genie starring Melissa McCarthy and Paapa Kwakye Essiedu star.
