My perspective on time well spent

Besides our work in the day, we have what we coined “discretionary time”, meaning we can do what we like.

But often, our time gets sucked up when there are pressing obligations to attend to, people whom we need to visit, or merely to catch up with old pals.

Henceforth, we may be left with only a tiny amount of time, which is discretionary.

Generosity is a concept we often associate with material things like money, etc. But have you ever thought of generosity related to time? Yes, time.

Try reaching out to a couple of your friends, and you will soon realise that some are more generous with their time than others.

If time is like money, then someone generous with their time towards you is like giving you some token of money.

Spending time with people who need us is rewarding and fulfilling. Others will reciprocate by returning favours or support if we do it right.

People are often touched when they least expect you to turn up or are willing to assist them. Since time is a precious commodity that can never be reversed, spending time helping people will never go unnoticed.

When we reach out to others with our generosity of time, it will build valued relationships.

The next time you are needed to visit or spend time with someone, do not do it grudgingly. Instead, trust our instinct that what we do will be remembered.

Even if the rewards are few, we will leave a strong impression on the lives of others.
