FYI, Information Overload Is A Thing (And It Sucks)
Stop being so brilliant, people. It’s hurting my brain.

Guys, my brain hurts.
I have been like…off on keeping up with the Medium writers I follow for the past couple of weeks. (Deep disapproval from self, btw.)
And as I was trying to catch up on everything I’d missed, I scrolled down my feed, developed a headache, and realized why I had been so flaky.
There are too many insanely smart people here.
*siren noises* Overload! Overload! Overload!
Have you ever had the experience of going super deep on something insanely interesting, coming up for air three hours later, and then being completely useless for the rest of the day?
It’s called information overload, and it blows.
Pretty much, there’s only so much we can process at one time. I could go into the sciencey-ness of things behind that, but that would require for me to boot up Google and I didn’t care for a Doodle recently, so we’re in a fight.
Therefore, I must beg you to bear with my extrapolation from my own experience. And my dudes, that experience is kicking my ass right now.
Medium Is Full Of Genius, and It Can Be Too Much
Do I want to read about entrepreneurship? Side hustles? Weight loss? Wellness? The Beingness of Everything (calling out Liberty Forrest, Author as an external font of wisdom)?
Cause my dudes, I boot up my Medium account and I am smacked in the face with analysis, information, personal stories, hope, depression, inspiration. Step-by-step instructions on how to achieve my dreams.
And my reaction to this flood of humanity is to close my computer, pet my cat, and go hide under my bed so the brilliance can’t find me.
I don’t necessarily have a solution or recommendation for this. So instead, I turn to the aforementioned brilliance of YOU.
How do you handle overload? How do you handle excellence when it’s just too much to process?
*collapses spread-eagled on floor* I cannot even with all the things.
And now my cat is licking my face.
Send help.
And Tylenol.
P.S. If you want extreme insight into the Beingness of Everything, check out Liberty Forrest, Author’s article How To Drive Yourself Nuts In One Easy Step. I did read that one today! But now I have to go like, contemplate the universe and accept my own power.
Sigh.
The things. They never end.
