I love them

Introduction

Born and bred in God’s country, Wales in the United Kingdom, I thought I would bring you some of our sayings; we speak a funny language of which I am not fluent but can speak a bit, even though I sound more English, heavens forbid.

I love being Welsh; I love my country and would not want to live anywhere else; I have travelled a lot and love my holidays; however, love coming home and back to my routes.

I have put together some funny Welsh phrases and what they actually mean in the English language; let me know your thoughts.

Funny Welsh phrases and what they mean

“Who’s coat is that jacket?” — It’s the same thing

“I am coming now, in a minute” — Either you are coming now or in a minute

“It’s over by there” — So no directions then

“Who’s jacket is hanging up there on the floor?” — How can it hang on the floor?

“Sorted “ — all done, completed

“That ‘s lush that is” — Lush means nice

“That’s a tidy job” — Meaning congratulations

“Half and half “Have rice and half chips to go with your curry

“That’s nice, that is” — I like that

“I’m Welsh, am I?” — I am from Wales

“Give us a Cwtch” — I want a cuddle

“Stop chopsing” — stop being cheeky

“Alright butt?” — How are you?

“Ych A Fi” — That’s disgusting

“Oh Never” — I am shocked

“It’s heaving in here” — It is busy/full

“Oh that’s proper that is” — I like it

“Yur” — It could mean Ear, Come Here or Year (so not complicated at all then!)

“Cheers Drive” — Thank you for driving me to my destination

“I’m only saying” — Don’t blame me

“Fair do’s” he tried his best

“Bach” — Little one

“That’s buzzing” — that’s really horrible

“Duw” — I’m angry

“Shopping it is then” — Let’s go shopping

“Pass that will you?” — can I have it, please?

Your Thoughts

Well, this was a short list, and I hope you enjoyed reading them, let me know if you have heard of any more and don’t know the meaning, and of course, I will provide you with the answers.
