Funny Story/Joke #1: Taylor Swift

Backstory (Important to understand the story)

This will be my first funny story/joke of many!

As some of you know, I am a high school English teacher. There are countless hilarious interactions at school, so I thought I would share one.

In my classroom, I have what are called, “phone pockets”. Students come into my class and put their cell phones into a hanging pocket on the wall. They are numbered, and every student has a pocket assigned to them by number.

The Story

One particular student was overjoyed because her phone pocket number was number 22. Once she saw this, she immediately broke into song! I’ll call the student Annie…because that’s her name. The smile on Annie’s face was remarkable when she saw this was to be her phone pocket number.

“I don’t know about you…but I’m feeling twenty twooooo wooohooo!!!”

Apparently, this is a Taylor Swift song and lyric.

Unfortunately for Annie, I had to give her the bad news.

“Annie…your number is 23…not 22.”

I saw the happiness and soul immediately drain from her eyes, as all looks of joy and excitement were demolished at that single moment. She had misread the chart and her phone pocket number.

“Oh.”

That was her only response. She walked back to her seat and sat down, brokenhearted.
