Fun While It Lasted
Another Summer Becomes Another Memory
It was another really weird summer although this one was a teensy weensy bit less weird than last summer. This year we managed to do some summer stuff including getting out to a Brooklyn Cyclones’ minor league baseball game at Coney Island and a trip up to Vermont to see my partner’s adult children with a side trip up to Montreal for a couple of days (yes, that is the moon and the Cyclones won, btw).

There were ferry trips out to the Rockaways and Brooklyn Bridge Park. Walks along various beaches and rides on various carousels. But again this summer much of our time outdoors was spent tooling around our 840-acre backyard, aka Central Park.

We even managed to find ourselves in parts of the Park that were completely new to us. Hard to believe given I’ve been here for nearly 22 years and my partner was born here. But then again, Central Park was designed to be rediscovered countless times. Well done, Oldsted and Vaux!

After all, this is — by design — the land of inviting portals and untold stories (whose delicate foot will fit in that boot?).

And, yes, for any inclined to wonder, my partner has rowed us across these waters. Who knows, we may even manage another boat ride before the season ends this year. We’re certainly planning another trip up to Woodlawn Cemetary or perhaps the Bronx Botanical Gardens for some premium leaf-peeping.

But then again, there’s always the backyard. We’ll bring back photos!
