Fun Dip
A Poem
Streaking naked, gangly legs and arms jump Off a cliff and into the abandoned mineshaft The pool of water screaming and laughing and singing like a redneck berserker fueled by summer freedom
Roaring waters and zinc oxide noses, while tumbling jelly-filled kids waddle into water chutes at the slide park, rocketing and somersaulting, careening off apex turns at full throttle, launching into pools and lakes of yelling mothers and drunk fathers while water spickets squirt jets of spray across the simmering audience
Bovine boys stuff their mouths with grapes and fingers and tell each other giggly jokes and spew spit filled fruit over terrified and laughing girls who dive for cover under giant inflatable waffles and ducks and seals and clowns festooning the poolside
A baby girl dancing nimbly across hot sand with a soft-serve ice cream cone, creamy splotches wafting through the air clumping the sand in blotchy blobs of summertime sweetness Heat dazed gulls circle and droop lazily hoping to catch a glob of melting happiness
Brazen demigods on longboards slice intaglio lines in bluer than blue waves, balancing on virile luck and happenstance Bikini-clad baccahe frolic in the surf sea-spray, translucent window panes arc in the air, time slows and droplets of water suspended in light, an iridescent kaleidoscope
