Full Frame Submission Guidelines
How to become a writer.

Welcome.
Full Frame was formed by a team of enthusiastic supporters of the Art of Photography. We respect its history, admire its present form, and look forward to its future. We invite you to participate in this adventure by sharing your creative efforts.
What would you frame?
What we are looking for:
At Full Frame, we are looking for fresh, original, unpublished content. Stories and articles featuring your unique images and perspectives on the Art of Photography — presented in intelligent, thoughtful, and creative ways.
We welcome work that gives a nod to the history and integrity of the Art of Photography.
We also welcome insightful interviews with Fine Art photographers in your circle of friends, mentors, and teachers.
We invite you to submit stories that describe how you were attracted to this genre, your influences, and your personal experiences.
We are also interested in stories that give an in-depth look at the tools you use to create your work. Why you chose them, and how they help achieve your creative vision.
We are also interested in publishing reviews — with images — of museum exhibitions, gallery shows, and books you have read, featuring the Art of Photography.
We are curious to see what images you would frame.
We hope that through your participation we will build a supportive community of writers and photographers.
What we are NOT looking for:
We are aiming high, so to maintain those standards we retain the privilege to reject articles that do not align with the Full Frame vision.
We will not publish stories that are sexist, racist, homophobic, or that negatively target individuals or organizations. Stories that are deemed offensive will be rejected.
Interpretation of what constitutes these categories is at the sole discretion of our editorial team.
We do not accept stories that are responses to prompts initiated outside of Full Frame. (Updated January 13, 2023)
Full Frame is not a marketplace, so we will not accept stories that sell or promote a book, blog, service, tool, or anything we deem a product.

Request to be added as a writer in the comments section of this article. Please include your Medium username.
Please ensure that your private notes are switched on in your settings.
Stories must include a header image, appropriately formatted title, and subtitle.
About images:
Copyright infringement is a serious crime, therefore please ensure that your images are credited and that licensing information is included. Sources or quotes must also be referenced.
Providing a link to the place where the photo you grabbed from Google does not give you permission to use the image. You must have permission from the copyright holder in order to use their images. It is just that simple.
We are a publication for photographers by photographers. We encourage the use of original images created by you.
Edit your images judiciously. Six well curated photos is a better strategy than a two dozen careless photo dump. (Updated July 28, 2023)
Content created/generated by Artificial Intelligence must be disclosed as such. (Updated March 13, 2023)
Beginning May 1, 2024, stories with AI-generated writing (disclosed as such or not) are not allowed to be paywalled as part of the Partner Program. (Medium updated policy)
We at Full Frame respect intellectual property, therefore giving credit and securing permission — when appropriate — is built into our value system.
Issues concerning intellectual property, libel, plagiarism, or other legal issues are the sole responsibility of the author.
Check your work for typos, grammar, and formatting. Online digital editors such as Grammarly, or similar, can be useful in that process. Better yet, recruit a talented human editor.
If your submission is rejected it should not be considered a criticism of your content. Pieces are rejected because they fail to follow our guidelines, contain numerous grammatical errors, or simply are not the right fit for our publication at present.
We hope that these guidelines will create a framework for a publication you will be proud to be a part of.
