As the new year is about to come to an end, I decided to write a specific series of stories about Medium, and how I feel about a couple of related issues. The other two stories are:

I broke my thoughts into three stories, just in case you want to take a little time to stop and digest what you read, in between stories.

This particular story focuses on my WHY. Why exactly, I choose to write stories about Medium.

Views about writing Medium related stories

A lot has been written and said about so many writers on the platform, choosing to write about the subject of Medium and making money on Medium.

I don’t plan to single anyone out or mention any story in particular, but we’ve all seen them; the ones that feel less than happy about Medium being a constant topic of conversation.

Well, first let me say, I JUST WROTE ABOUT THAT, and I shared my view about how I feel about writers who claim to oppose these type of stories.

Now that you know definitively where I stand on the matter, consider these points, before I share with you exactly why I write about Medium.

What should real writers write about?

In one of the other stories in this series, I mention how it appears that some writers tend to look down on those who spend time writing about Medium.

I worry about new writers who don’t have thick enough skin to deal with people telling them what to write about. Newbies often feel like they have to join the masses, in order to be a real writer.

New online writers are often given the same advice, when it comes to the question of what to write about. All the experts and veteran writers will tell them the following:

All writers should:

  • Write what you know
  • Write what you love
  • Write what interests you
  • Write what people want to read
  • Write what challenges you

I suspect that if I were to take a poll and ask any writer who calls themself a professional, they would agree with everything on the above list.

Well guess what folks? I say you can be a newbie or a not so newbie like me, and still be a real writer who writes about Medium!

I write about tons of different topics, as you can see if you scroll through my lists and catalogs. But make no mistake, I write about Medium a lot, and I have no problem admitting it.

In fact, the above list of things indicating writers should write about, actually coincides with why I write about Medium. As you read my list of WHY, notice the connection.

My personal list includes:

  • I write what I know about Medium, from my personal perspective and journey, and as it relates to my years of online writing knowledge and experience.
  • I write what I love about Medium and what I love about being part of an online writing community that I’ve actually connected with.
  • I write what interests me about Medium writers and all the various stories they share on the platform.
  • I write what people want to read; which includes writing about ways to improve and succeed on Medium, particularly by earning more income.
  • I write what challenges me, which includes trying to figure out how to get in step with the Medium algorithm, and increase my readership and earnings.
  • I write what the hell I want to write!

Final Thoughts

As you look at my reasons for specifically writing about Medium, I don’t mention a very important one, which is:

I write about Medium because it is the MOST lucrative topic you can earn money for. My stories with the HIGHEST earnings are about Medium.

The subject of “Medium” is the number one thing that writers on this platform read about; whether they complain about doing so or not.

Why wouldn’t I write about it? Why wouldn’t anyone?

DEAR READER: The advice and opinions I share are not always taken from a book or based on professional statements. I merely share accounts I’ve experienced -personally and I tell you how I handled a situation when this happened to me, OR my suggestions, if it were to ever happen.
