LONG NIGHTS AND ICY DAYS
Frozen Landscapes and Superior Waters Are Always Picturesque
October Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Site or Sight”
Winter sun brings joy with hope
Often jokingly called “Miami guy,” it is well known I was not thrilled with the bitter cold of northern Minnesota in the winter. These days, after decades of snow and ice, I have been converted — somewhat.
It works this way. Start with an apartment’s underground heated garage, and never leave the car until you find a warm building somewhere. If the door is more than 10 feet distant, creep along with your back to the wind. If worse comes worse, wear a decent coat.
Scenes like the one above are also helpful. What fantastic beauty is to be found in snow drifts and ice formations. The marvel of millions and millions of flakes covering all the trees is breathtaking.
Florida has no attraction for me, so I will never be a snowbird. Minnesota winter has my complete devotion.
