From Turmoil to Tranquility: How I Altered My Brainwaves and Rebuilt My Life

In retrospect, when I wrote my journal and yoga, it was centered on addressing extreme grief management, which in hindsight, I realize was pivotal not only for emotional relief but possibly as a lifeline for suicide prevention during the worst days of my crisis.

Today, I want to emphasize the importance of yoga as an anchor through any of life’s storms. If you are suffering, I highly recommend this practice for immediate relief and long lasting results.

Crisis Gripped Me

Reflecting back, a perpetual state of crisis engulfed my every waking moment, it felt like I was struggling to prevent drowning. Now I realize that preparing for some eventual crisis in your life actually should an integral aspect of mental health awareness -much like taking swimming lessons or practicing a fire escape route from a building.

I didn’t have a roll model who prepared me in how to recover from a life-crisis before they were happening in my life. After a self-created crisis overwhelmed me — it was sink or swim. I didn’t learn to swim well, but I didn’t know it.

Through yoga, I discovered some temporary relief from the storm in my mind. And I knew that if I could find relief, even for a moment… that I could practice and find more relief.

One month, I did 51 yoga classes in 31 days.

I needed a lot of relief.

How Things Turned Out

Fast forward to the present day, the phrase “Crisis Consumed My Thinking” sums up the turmoil I faced in those days.

However, my eureka moment unfolded when I realized the potency of hot yoga as a catalyst for change. After an intense hour-long session of hot yoga, I felt liberated from the shackles of stress and anxiety.
