From Garage to Glory: Knowledge or Wealth? I don’t know!

An engineer who managed to import his super sports car into the Qatar Exhibition with a limited budget.

SIMURGH of Afghanistan

If I say money doesn’t bring happiness, I lied, but sometimes, with fascinating and thoughtful ideas and a low budget, you can accomplish many things to amaze the whole world. I say; that sometimes a small capital with productive ideas can come in handy, but sometimes a large capital with few ideas can be an approximate answer.

Now, you are seeing a project named “Simurgh,” designed and implemented by an Afghan engineer along with his team in Afghanistan with a limited budget.

This project marked the construction of Afghanistan’s first-ever car and was showcased at the 2023 Geneva International Motor Show in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The Geneva International Motor Show 2023 opened on Friday, October 5th, in Qatar and continued for about ten days.

SIMURGH made by ENTOP

Who is the car manufacturer?

Mohammad Reza Ahmadi is a young Afghan from Ghazni, Afghanistan. In this country, he launched the first car manufacturing company named ENTOP. He, along with four others, dedicated five full years to their sports car project and spent around $60,000 to build this car. After a change in government and policies in the country, finally, a center named the Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education, along with Mohammad Reza Ahmadi and his team, took them under their wing. The car manufacturing process gained momentum, and eventually, after about 7 months, the first Afghan sports car, named Mada 9, was unveiled on the premises of Kabul University.

According to the head of the car manufacturing team, all body molds, glass, lights, chassis, and suspension systems were produced in Afghanistan over 4 years, and only the engine, gearbox, and, of course, its tires are imported.

What will be the fate of this car?

Contrary to initial expectations, the Taliban government has supported this project. However, financing for commercial production of this car is another issue that may not seem very likely in the current conditions in Afghanistan. Therefore, Mada 9, Afghanistan’s first super sports car, is not currently poised for mass production unless it can attract investor interest.

Nevertheless, one must wait and see whether the necessary budget for the production version of this model will be provided or not. If Mada 9 becomes commercialized, this project could be described as one of the most remarkable achievements of the Taliban!
