From Fantasy to Reality

Living the Life of My Dreams

My biggest fantasy was being married to an extremely rich man. We lived in a mansion in an upscale neighbourhood, and owned the most expensive car. I was chauffeured to anywhere I wanted to go.

The house was so large that the TV room was more like a cinema, inclusive of orchestra seating and surround sound.

The yard was nice and big with well a manicured lawn and a garden so beautiful it made the cover of Home and Garden Magazine.

The children had a nanny who took care of their every need including taking them to and from school and doing their homework.

Best of all I did not have to work. I spent my days sitting on the deck sipping wine and reading my favorite novel.

We traveled the world and visited places like the French Riviera, the Louvre, the Tower of Pisa, and Disney World!

With our wealth I could buy anything I wanted; go anywhere I wanted; and do whatever I wanted without worrying about the cost.

My Present Reality

So what does my present reality look like?

As a young person I made a lot of sacrifices. At the age of 20 I made a down payment on a parcel of land, and after some years, I was able to build a house.

The house was small, only two bedrooms. When I moved in all I had was a refrigerator, a stove, a mattress, and a radio. It was the happiest day of my life.

In all honesty I am not a materialistic person. The only thing I wanted after this was a car. Nothing expensive, just something to get me around. However the car did not come until a long time afterward.

Over the years I was able to furnish and acquire the necessary things to make my house a home. I was even able to extend the house by adding on more rooms. It is not the mansion of my dreams, but a home where my family and I are comfortable and happy.

I even cherish the modest vehicle that I now own. It gets me to where I want to go and when I don’t feel like driving, I get my son to take me. He doesn’t mind being my chauffeur. He recently got his driver’s permit and welcomes every opportunity to get behind the wheel.

Read what I also discovered in Washington D.C.

Who knows, maybe one day, God’s willing, I will be able to visit all those exotic places I fantasized about. But if not that’s okay, because I am living the life of my dreams, and I am extremely blessed with everything that I have, and could not ask for more.
