We could draw a line from the present to the future, predict the rate of progress, and rest assured that our forecasts would be reasonably accurate.

Unexpected twists also characterize the path of innovation. Consider the internet — a technology once considered a ‘passing fad’ is now a crucial element of modern society.

In 1993, the internet came into being, thanks to Sir Tim Berners-Lee. But in the early days, not everyone was sure it would last. Fast forward to 2023, and it’s clear those early skeptics were wrong.
