The creator economy refers to the collecting, creating, and distributing of all content in our modern digital environment.
The old world is dying, and getting a degree and a job is not the only and the best option anymore. The traditional education system is not updated and does not provide much value.
The digital economy opened new opportunities for earning money and a lifestyle. It gives more flexibility and freedom daily and promotes a much healthier lifestyle.
I have been blogging for years but never really have had any success. I made many mistakes, but in 2022, I could finally quit my last 9–5 and enter the creator economy.
Most people will never enter this lifetime opportunity because it will require personal development, willingness to learn, and take risks. That means less competition for action-takers.
I will share five tips at the start of your content creator journey to help you succeed.
Begin before you believe you are ready
Taking action always wins. You need to act before you gain confidence. And that is against what we learn in the school system, where we are taught memorizing and obedience instead of taking action.
That is why people with diplomas very often struggle in a new reality. You need to change your mindset and start acting instead of learning to start.
In simple words:
- Start, then learn
- Don’t learn to start
- Just stop waiting and do something
If you don’t start, you will never win.
Improve every day
Work with the intention that you will create better content every day. And put in as much effort as you can. It will be hard at first, but it gets easier and becomes your second nature.
My first article, blog, lead magnet, landing page, website, and newsletter were probably below average or bad. And you will suck at some things or most of them. That is entirely normal.
Aim to improve with each piece of content, and your work will gradually gain traction. The key is showing up daily, taking steps, learning, implementing, sharing, and growing.
If you get 1% better every day, you’ll be a completely different person by the end of the year.
Charge more than you think you should
Treat yourself as a business entity. There are enough starving artists in the world.
Although charging what you are worth can be challenging initially, do not sell yourself cheap.
You can even do some stuff for free — to get a valuable experience or testimonials. That is part of the game. But always charge more for paid work than you think you should.
That entrepreneurship mindset will help you make money. People who make the most money are not necessarily the best or the most talented.
Obsess more on a subject than anybody else
Obsession beats any talent and leads to greatness. It will help you to outperform the average person in an effort, and you’ll see crazy results.
Be honest with yourself and ask what you are obsessed about. Obsession will give you an edge and advantage.
Obsession over a topic makes you stand out.
If you obsess more than anybody else, you will be light years ahead of the competition.
Be patient
Just because you haven’t seen the results of your efforts yet doesn’t mean your foundations aren’t growing.
Content creation is not a sprint or a get-rich-quick scheme. It is a marathon.
Work in a 90-day working cycle. It will help you to collect valuable data and improve or pivot if necessary.
Most people quit before they even see any results. This is insane because they would succeed if they were stuck long enough.
I was writing for years without making a penny, but then I changed my approach, and after three months, I quit my last job.
