From 0 To Over $2000 A Month, Medium Has Changed My Life

Nearly 14 months ago, when I joined Medium, I didn’t have an idea of the articles that would work the best on the site. I had a blank mind; I came to this platform with some experience but had no knowledge of curation and publications. I was told by some fellow writers that I should submit my work to top publications because it was the only way to survive. Instead of listening to them, I began self-publishing my content. Thankfully, I got a good response and made a few cents in my first month of writing. I continued writing and my stats and earnings kept improving with time.

Today, I am one of the top Medium writers. I am making more than $2000 every single month thanks to Ev Williams. Without this platform, my dreams of earning a living could not be possible.

A Dose Of Motivation For Aspiring Writers

If you are one of those people who have joined the Partner Program and are making over $100 every month, consider yourself lucky. Only 6 to 7 percent of all freelance writers make this much, and if I am not wrong, only 1 percent of content creators who write regularly on Medium earn $1000 or more every month. It means I am one of those 1 percent people who make decent money by writing what they love.

If I can make $2000 or more, you can make it too.

Here are some doses of motivation for you.

  1. Don’t compare yourself with any other Medium writer. Whether they are seniors or juniors, you shouldn’t get upset after seeing their stats and earnings. We all have our own journeys and paths. Some of us can make money quickly, while others have to struggle a lot. Nothing should stop you from looking up and giving your best. The stats and earnings of another writer should inspire you to work harder the next time and shouldn’t make you feel empty or restless.
  2. Give Medium at least one year if you are self-publishing. In my case, I have published a few stories with publications like Better Marketing, Illumination, and The Writing Cooperative. The rest of my articles are self-published. This is because I have been on this site for months and know all the tricks and methods to succeed. You cannot learn everything overnight, and it may not even be possible for you to see great results in a couple of months. I suggest you self-publish at least 150 articles before you can expect something good. I have published more than 500 stories so far.
  3. Stop staring at your stats page. Also, you should not share your work on social media. I have never done any of these things. I look at my stats page once a day. Views keep going up and down, and many new writers get upset when they get only a few views/reads. Similarly, they keep begging for reads, claps, and comments throughout the day. I don’t share my articles on Facebook or any other platform. Instead of sharing your content online for promotional purposes, you should define your target audience, do your silently and let them decide whether your articles are worth their time or not.
