The Dark is a horror and dark fantasy magazine, and they are always interested in reading new and interesting stories.
Fiction: The Dark is looking for dark fantasy and horror stories 2,000 to 6,000 words in length. According to their website, they have a very quick response time, allowing you to query if you do not hear anything within one week of submission. This is super fast for print and online publications. This can be especially helpful if you want to send a submission here and it gets rejected. You will be able to send it elsewhere quickly versus the typical weeks to months that most lit and traditional magazines take to hear something from.
As far as what they are looking for — they do not want their writers to be afraid to be different. Different is great! They love stories that deviate from the ordinary. So if this describes your writing, you may want to give them a try!
