FREE! — Make Your Own eLearning Courses With These Top Five FREE Apps/Tools
(Let’s take you closer than ever to your goal of location independent living)!
If the world taught us anything this year it’s that the internet is a tool, that even now, we under use. The truth is that when the outside world shut down the online world just got going.
Even the most hardened Luddites took to the web like proverbial ducks in the drink. We shopped, we met, we dated, we lunched, we worked, we learned, and we did it all from the sofa.
It should come as no surprise then that one of the biggest growth sectors of last year was eLearning.
As a creator of such courses, you can work from anywhere you like.
With that in mind, there is no better way to turn your skills into your very own side hustle than by creating your own online learning courses, and to get you started I researched the best free resources for eLearning content creators.
1. Adapt: like most of the utilities on this list adapt comes in two flavours. There’s the open-source free version with some limitations and its full-bodied big brother for those with cash to splash. The simple version allows users to create simple yet effective linear courses with some animations and transitions, but as you progress along the learning curve, you’ll find an evolving range of plug-ins to add some fizz.

2. CourseLab: this free software enables course creators to build web-based modules. One big plus compared to some of the others in our list is CourseLab’s multi-media functionality which allows users to pull in pictures, videos, quizzes and even complicated animations and interactions. It also comes pre-bundled with a decent set of simple templates but customising them is probably a job for the more tech-savvy creators.

3. Uduntu: is a free (with limits) browser-based service which allows users to create some impressive modules, including branching scenarios and assessments. For a modest $10 a month, users can convert Powerpoints to online courses and spare your finished product from some pretty oppressive watermarking. Completed packages are downloadable as SCORM files and you can also upload and edit other SCORM files. One real winning benefit of Uduntu is the ability to collaborate with other users from multiple locations and in real-time.

4. isEazy: yet another browser-based utility, isEazy is a powerful but accessible freemium eLearning course creator. Compared to the others on our list, isEazy is strictly limited for free users and while the paid plans are reasonable, the stingy 0.3Gb cap on their free course really gives the impression they don’t really consider their own tool to be free is any real sense. Apart from the freemium ceiling, the software is easy to use and packs a punch allowing users to create a wide variety of assets including catalogues, quizzes, and other interactions.

5. AdaptiveU: Our last contender is a powerful online content creation platform with great course-building potential. Like most of the others on our list, AdaptiveU allows users to create full-featured responsive web-based modules. However, the software goes further than most by providing intelligent tracking and statistics so your learners can plot their progress. Unlike some of the others, we’ve mentioned AdaptiveU limits the final product to its own online platform which means users need to register before they can access your content. To make matters worse the free version limits creators further by only allowing you to create two courses and only allows you to share your modules with five users.

So, there you have it folks, five reasons to get on with developing your own passive income stream and start enjoying some of that location independent living that everyone’s shouting about.
Now, we should also point out that while there are indeed some limits to the free versions of the apps and tools we’ve mentioned, even the most restricted iterations will still allow creative content creators to build and publish powerful professional eLearning courses which folks would be happy to pay you for.
So, the only question remaining is…
