Summary

The website content is a poignant reflection on the intergenerational bond between a mother and child, highlighting the mother's frailty and strength as observed by the narrator, and is part of a poetry series celebrating women's power.

Abstract

The text is an intimate piece from a poetry series titled "Women : Power," which showcases the depth of a mother-child relationship through the lens of frailty and strength. The narrator describes the tactile softness of the mother's skin and the realization of profound love, noting the mother's slower movements and increased smiles. The mother's silent confidence is admired, suggesting it's something the narrator aspires to. The mother's wisdom is personified as a voice that drowns out all else, and her ability to see through the narrator's vulnerabilities is acknowledged. Despite the mother's frailty, the narrator is reassured by her confidence that they will find their own strength in time, a belief the narrator embraces as a legacy of being the mother's child. The series features poems by various poets, including BHD and marika bianca, and includes art by Ernio Hernandez.

As I hug her,

her skin so soft to the touch

it strikes me that as a child I never realised

I love her so much.

She takes longer to move than in days past

She smiles more, hesitates less

There is a silent confidence she has

that only in my wildest dreams could I hope to possess.

Her words make the sound,

not her voice

When her wisdom speaks,

everything else becomes background noise.

She sees the frailty in my eyes

In hers, strength is all I see

She assures me I will find my own power in time

and because I am her child, I agree.
