Self-Love Challenge

Four Strategies for Finding Your Inner Peace

Come along with me on a 21 day self-love commitment

Help me, help you.

So you’ve set some goals, completed a project, and maybe even celebrated a little with a glass of bubbly. But the next day, or perhaps even the same day, it happens. Panic. Doubt. Frustration. Resentment maybe, even a little anger. Where did my motivation go? What happened to that goal I was so excited about yesterday?

Maybe your goal was really hard. Perhaps you let someone else’s opinion stop you from going after it. Perhaps you just forgot what your goal was in the first place because life got in the way. Whatever the reason for your current state of disarray, I have a challenge for you that will be good for your heart and soul.

The challenge is to commit to practicing self-love for 21 days. That’s right, three weeks of making yourself a priority, no matter what life throws your way. From now on, you will put yourself first, at least for the next 21 days.

Here’s how:

  1. Make a list of all the things you love about yourself, big and small. Include physical attributes, personality traits, talents and accomplishments. Write these down and refer to them often, especially on the days when you’re feeling down about yourself.
  2. Set aside time each day for some self-care activities that make you feel good physically and mentally. This can be anything from taking a bath or going for a run to reading or meditating. The important thing is that you do something purely for your own enjoyment with no ulterior motive.
  3. Allow yourself to say “no” without guilt or explanation when someone asks you to do something that doesn’t fit your plans or schedule. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for taking care of yourself first — just calmly assert your boundaries and move on with your day.
  4. Make a vow to forgive yourself whenever you make a mistake or fall short of your goals (which will happen from time to time). No one is perfect — not even people who seem to have their lives entirely together — so cut yourself some slack whenever necessary.

All-in-all

It’s important to remember that you are never alone in your struggle to achieve inner peace. Many people care about you and want to help you succeed. However, it is ultimately up to you to decide to put yourself first and commit to a path of self-love.

Self-love is not selfishness; it is simply taking the time and effort to nurture your own needs to be your best self for others. When you practice self-care activities that make you feel good, it helps improve your physical and mental health, which benefits everyone around you.

Learning how to say “no” without feeling guilty is an integral part of self-love. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for taking care of yourself first — just calmly assert your boundaries and move on with your day.

Finally, remember that forgiving yourself is an essential part of self-love.
