‘’The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step’’

Lao Tsu

This story is for you if you have not even started your meditation journey. If you are at level zero, hopefully not below that! Don’t get agitated. Level zero is the perfect launch pad from where you can fire up your meditation journey. An intelligent person knows the power of ‘’zero ‘’. Be happy for being a zero in the first place! Get grounded by accepting the realities. The reality of where you stand at this moment is the right place to take that first step forward.

Step 1

Take out a journal and have a sincere self-talk. Let it flow. Pour out all those pent-up emotions, rejections, frustrations, and everything that sucks life energy out of your every pore.

Step 2

You need to dispose of this toxic content. You don’t want anyone to read it. You don’t want to go back into those dark alleys again. Flush it off or if you have a safe outdoors nearby shred the paper and burn it off. Do this exercise every day till the time a small light; a ray of hope starts to appear at the horizon. You will start to feel better, and lighter.

The Two Dimensions of Everything

In Hindu Mythology, there is an epic story, where devas and asuras tried to attain immortality by drinking the ‘amrut ‘the nectar of immortality. Amrut was hidden somewhere in the depths of the celestial ocean of milk.

An unusual treaty was formed between the gods and demons to churn this deep ocean to get the nectar of immortality. The funny fact was that the gods broke this treaty after receiving the pot of ‘amrut ‘. But, in the process of churning, all deadly toxins came out first, which was harmful to the existence of the universe. To save the world, Lord Shiva consumed this poison, which came out first in the process of churning.

In simple terms, if you churn your mind, and dig your past, all hidden negativities will come out first. You need to be aware of this fact and take steps to eliminate it before you see any light that can light up your journey. Writing is catharsis, and that is the main reason you need to write down your thoughts and eliminate negative thoughts and imprints from your conscience as the very first step.

STEP 3

Cleanse Your cells Through Pranayama

Now, you have successfully cleansed your mind of toxic thoughts and imprints through the exercise of journaling. Before beginning your meditation journey, you need to cleanse your body through breathing exercises known as ‘Pranayama’. In Sanskrit ‘’Prana ‘’ means life energy and ‘’Yama ‘’ means control. We are the sum total of our life energy. We can successfully preserve, rejuvenate, and channel our life force through breathing exercises. Pranayama is an ancient breathing technique that originated in India in the age-old yogic practices. So, I would advise you to take the help of an expert and learn before doing any kind of breathing exercise.

Step 4

Strengthen your muscles and bones through regular workouts. Meditation will be more effective in a healthy body and mind.

Now, you can begin your meditation journey. Meditation is all about awareness, you can follow a path that suits you. You can incorporate meditation into your daily activities like nature walks, listening to music, reading, and even cooking!

The path will unfold on its own when you begin the journey.
