Four Secrets You Probably Don’t Know About Making Money Online

As someone who’s making money online for two whole years, there are things I’ve come across from my experience and those of my students that always surprise me.
There are so many ways to make money online.
I’m not saying make a living online, but a little something to start with.
Once you make your money for the first time, you’ll become more confident and your mindset will change. It will take that one stint to make you believe there’s a world of opportunities waiting for you.
Let me show you how.
Your skill is a consultation call
What do you do for work? How many years have you done it for? Do you have additional certifications?
You know you don’t have to do something incredibly different to make money online.
You probably have a skill already that you can help others with.
Yes, that can be a consultation call.
Do this by:
- When you get questions you can solve, drive them to your call link
- Creating content online around your expertise and encourage booking 1–1 calls via your link
Create this via Calendly or on Topmate (not sponsored, it’s what I use).
Trust me, there’s something you know that others want to learn. You’re one call away from charging for your time.
Build a digital product in your domain
Building a digital product isn’t rocket science. It’s actually much easier than you think. For some of you who already created a bit of content, maybe you already have your product ready right in front of you!
Let me tell you the process of my first digital product.
I wanted to make an ebook about side hustling.
By then, I’d already written a few articles around it.
I put a filter on my Google Sheets and saw that from 33–35 articles I’ve written about side hustling, about 13 can be in this ebook as they define the journey chronologically.
Then, I
- copy pasted them into Google Docs
- created a free cover on Canva
- uploaded it on Mailchimp and later Gumroad
That’s all it took.
My second freebie was a Side Hustler Checklist which took under 2 hours to make and upload on Gumroad. Here are the stats:
It’s made decent money while I sleep because ~5% of customers paid for it. This happens when you enable the ‘pay what you want’ option on Gumroad.
After that, my paid products were a consequence of questions I got asked most often. I first conducted an experiment which led me to create my flagship course, Summit 21.
Followed by some writing guides.
Provide services related to your skill
This is the oldest technique in the book.
Whatever you know, freelance it out. Earn your first buck.
The first $129 I made from 2 hours of work blew my mind away. It was more than what I earned for 3 days of work in my full-time job here in India.
That means I got paid more for those 2 hours than I did for 24 hours of boring work.
You see why I’ve been telling you to do that ONE gig to change your mind? Because it will.
Learn a skill or build an existing one.
Hop onto Upwork.
And apply for gigs. A YouTube channel Josh Burns Tech is pretty helpful to guide you through Upwork for applying for gigs and building stellar proposals.
Create about what you know
There are stories inside you.
Think of the summer holidays during your childhood.
What are the top lessons you learnt from your favourite teacher?
Your biggest learnings at work or from school.
These are all stories.
Once you create content, you’ll surely get the above opportunities I mentioned. In fact, start now if you haven’t already because it’ll help you attract opportunities.

See — I quit my job to freelance. But I ended up being a solopreneur because one opportunity led to another and the products and courses happened. It was never a part of the plan, but it happened as I was consistent with writing online.
So plant your seeds now to unravel a world of opportunities in time.
Lastly
There are enough ways to make money online.
There are also enough people cribbing about it because it's not happening for them. The reason is that they think the results will be instant.
The only thing that will set you apart is staying at it for long enough.
That's also where most people fail.
So the bar is pretty low, all it requires is consistency. Not mastery.
