Four Easy Recipes For Writers

We have to feed the family while feeding ourselves.

I hope you enjoy and can use these recipes. They all start with a big pot and broth or stock.

  1. Vegetable soup

One large pot

One Box of Chicken Broth or whatever broth you like One cup of water Four carrots Four stalks of celery 1/2 sweet onion, chopped Three good-sized potatoes, peeled and diced 1 bag of corn 1 bag of peas 1 can of tomatoes 1/2 head of cabbage Your favorite seasoning

I use Adobo because it brings out the flavor. Cook for about 1 hour and 30 minutes on medium heat.

Cook all at the same time until the veggies are tender. Serve in large bowls with crackers, butter, or anything you enjoy eating soup with, on the side.

2. Chicken with vegetables

Same as above, but put any part of the chicken in it that is your favorite. Cook all together until the chicken falls off the bone. (If there is a bone.)

Take out the bone, and put in the chicken meat. Cook for about 15 minutes on medium heat to make sure the chicken is cooked all the way. Stir and Serve!

3. Chili

I love chili especially when it is cold outside, but I eat it in the summer as well.

One box of beef broth 1 cup of water 1 lb. or less of ground beef 1 can of tomatoes 1 can of black beans 1 can of kidney beans 1 can of Great Northern beans A few shakes of chili powder A few shakes of Adobo

Cook altogether until the ground beef is done about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Serve with sour cream, and shredded cheese on top, over white rice, inside tortillas, etc. The longer it cooks, the thicker it will be.

4. Dump soup

Use any kind of broth

Use all your vegetables Use all the meat, chicken, bacon, ham

1 cup of water

Cook all the ingredients together for about 1 hour or so.

This is survival for me. There has to be time for me. Any of these recipes will only take 20 to 30 minutes of prep. time then dish it up. You may have to check on it every once in a while. If you have young kids you can add something fun to it of your own imagination.

I hope you enjoy these!

A friend of mine says I need my own food truck!
