Found On Road Dead
Thrifty Words 100 Challenge #10: Zombies
“Where is everyone?”
“The grid’s down, baby. People are hidin’.”
Tucking a strand of greasy hair behind her ear, she raised her face to the sun.
She turned her gaze on him and asked, “What are we goin’ to do? This place is locked tight. I’m starved.”
His dirty hands against the glass, he stared inside what seemed like the hundredth abandoned restaurant along their journey.
“I can’t break no more glass. These places are cleaned out. Why’d we leave your mama’s anyway? Remind me.”
“She was gittin’ on my last nerve.”
Geesh, you’re a stupid zombie, he muttered quietly.
When the grid goes down, and it will, most people will have no idea where to get their food or how to build a fire for cooking it. The obvious places will offer no respite to hunger, thirst, and mental health. Lord, help us. You’re welcome for this uplifting encouragement!
