Forgiving You For Me
A poem
There’s grace in the space Between my hands and these keys Between the words in my heart I will type but not speak Between the hurt I have felt And the love I’ve freely given I come now to grace and not anger To say you are forgiven
I forgive your defensiveness Your sharp edge of anger How you were my favorite person Who became this bitter stranger I forgive you for staying When you could see my heart bleeding I forgive you for not feeling The love I was desperately needing
I forgive you for withdrawing While I was still caught in my feelings I forgive you, I forgive you For me, for my healing There’s grace in the space Between your heart and my own I hope you find what you’re needing I hope you won’t be alone
My words fall on the page Their black and white bleeding This forgiveness and grace You won’t be reading, or needing But the words as they fall Finally set my heart free I forgive you, I forgive you Even if you never forgive me.
