Such a level of realism, once only achievable by physically traveling to Tokyo, is now achieved by just a couple of words on a keyboard.
I used to think AI was just one of those words that people threw around to get investors excited about putting their money in the stock market, and I thought that it would never happen in my lifetime.
But man, I was heck wrong!
If you haven’t heard about OpenAI’s Sora, it’s about to blow your mind and probably change the world forever in ways that people don’t fully understand yet.
What actually Sora AI DOES?
You type in some text of what you want, and it creates videos, and it does that at such a high level of realism that it shouldn’t even be possible.

OpenAI released a demo video on their official YouTube channel, showing a glimpse of what Sora AI can do (as of now.)
This is absolutely insane, and this is just the tip of the iceberg of what it can do.
How Sora AI Will Change Our Lives And The Global Economy Forever
AI is the single most important invention in all of human history, and it’ll also probably be our last because once you create the thing that can create anything, it’s game over.
a — The Potential Displacement of Jobs
My initial thoughts are that it will probably displace millions of jobs.
Here’s how?
In 2022, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that videographers earned roughly $62,000 a year, which is a very livable wage, and there’s approximately 875,000 videographers in the US alone, and they range anywhere from wildlife all the way to oceanographers, and those very specific fields within videography can also now be replicated by Sora.
Think about the companies that make cameras and drones. Previously, you needed these products, often costing thousands of dollars, along with licenses to operate drones.
But now, none of that is necessary…
You simply type in a request like “drone view of waves crashing against the rugged cliffs along Big Sur’s Graypoint beach,” and voila! You receive a picture-perfect cinematic drone shot. It’s truly remarkable.
b — Ethical and Societal Implications
The advancements made by Sora technology extend beyond mere technical achievements; they prompt essential conversations regarding the ethical and societal ramifications of artificial intelligence.
We confront a dual challenge: leveraging the conveniences Sora provides while also guarding against its capacity to disrupt employment and facilitate misuse, such as through the creation of deepfakes or the dissemination of misinformation.
