Forever in a Melody

A free verse poem on existence

Photo by Ahmad Odeh on Unsplash

And where do you rush to, hoarding nuts for eternal winter, dotting I’s, crossing T’s, scrambling before the music ends when you should be dancing?

And what of your truth? When exhaling into oblivion will thoughts dwell on unmade beds mourning imminent transience, or will wonder precede eternal slumber?

All-time is an elaborate illusion, a ticking clock only makes us anxious so replace it with a favorite song dance in time with internal rhythm, for there’s no better melody than now.

I was inspired by Jupiter Grant’s beautiful poem, There’s Never a Forever. Think of this one as a complimentary “yang to her poem’s yin”, so to speak.
